Dr Tyler Kang is a board certified Medical Oncologist with 15years of cancer treatment experience.
As a magna cum laude graduate of biologic science, Dr Kang was first introduced to oncology because of his fascination with cancer research during his medical training at the University of Southern California. He followed his mentor to the Cleveland Clinic where he completed his advanced fellowship program in medical oncology and hematology. Returning to California, where he has his roots, he first joined private practice in the Eastbay of the bay area and more recently became a medical director a the Adventist Health cancer center in St Helena, where he ran the clinical trial program and chaired the cancer committee. During this time, he also helped establish the program as an accredited community center for the Commission on Cancer under the American College of Surgeons.
While his interest in oncology was initially in research, it was when he started working with patients and their families afflicted by cancer that he realized his calling. As an immigrant himself, he understands the multifaceted socioeconomic challenges that cancer diagnosis can pose to his patients. He is also deeply aware of the differences various cultures have toward western medicine and cancer therapies and strives to work with each patient to manage the disease in a holistic and spiritual fashion.
His longtime motto is “treat the body and heal the soul”.
