Dr. Horoupian was born in Winnipeg and moved to the United States as a young man. He graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at Boston University Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. He joined First Surgical Consultants in 2004. He specializes in laparoscopic and robotic surgery, complex hernias and abdominal reconstruction, foregut, hiatal hernia repair, LINX procedure, colorectal surgery, including cancer, diverticular, and prolapse diseases. Dr. Horoupian speaks Armenian and conversational Spanish, in addition to English.
Outside of work, Dr. Horoupian is an avid gardener and cook. He enjoys preparing food with his wife and two daughters. He also enjoys travel, hiking, and hockey.
Dr. Horoupian has privileges at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Oakland and Berkeley, St. Rose Hospital in Hayward, Eden Hospital in Castro Valley, and San Ramon Regional Medical Center in San Ramon, as well as the Surgery Center of Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Oakland, an outpatient surgery center.
